Engraving
Richards & West also  provides fine jewelry engraving services. We can personalize your fine jewelry  by engraving (subject to technical constraints and the space available) either  a name, phrase or date (in a range of different styles) or a symbol or design  on your piece. With great skill, precision and artistry, our master engraver  will provide the very best in customizing your treasured piece with an  unforgettable touch.
Custom Engraving
    - Engraving  a permanent message in the metal depends on the available surface area on the  piece. 
 
    - Engraving  is traditionally performed using a graver, a tool with which the engraver cuts  into the metal. Most engravings are nowadays performed by laser since this  technique offers a higher degree of regularity in the lines.
 
    - The  piece of jewelry is cleaned, particularly its less accessible parts, by  immersion in an ultrasonic tank filled with lukewarm soapy water. All jewelry  creations may be subjected to ultrasound treatment, except for those containing  emeralds, pearls and certain other gems that are considered too delicate.
 
    - Once a piece  is engraved, the piece will be carefully inspected in accordance with Richards  & West's high quality criteria.
 
    - An  engraving may be removed or replaced by another.
 
Engraving Schedule
Please allow an additional  2-3 days for delivery of machine-engraved items and an additional 4-5 days for  delivery of monogrammed and hand-engraved items.

When your jewelry arrives we  follow a stringent process of documenting the details of your valuable piece.  Once that is complete, we will contact you either by phone or email to let you  know that your jewelry has arrived safely.
When we have assessed the  item and your engraving request, we will quote you a price and provide a  completion timeframe.
If at this stage you change  your mind, we only require that you cover return postage and packaging costs.

Free Complimentary Inspection and Cleaning
If you have purchased a piece  of fine jewelry from Richards & West, we will provide free complimentary  cleaning and inspection to guarantee your jewelry looks as bright and exquisite  as the day you bought it. You will pay only for shipping. If you are unwilling  to send your piece back to us for an annual inspection and cleaning, we  recommend that you have your piece checked by a reputable jeweler in your area  to help extend the life of your jewelry and perhaps even prevent the loss of a  valuable heirloom.
